About The Position

The OP L2 Pharmacy Technician supports patient access to prescribed medications by managing the prior authorization process for specialty, high-cost, and complex drug therapies. The role works closely with pharmacists, providers, clinic staff, payers, and patients to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant submission of authorization requests, minimizing treatment delays and supporting continuity of care for UF Health patients.

Requirements

• Registration with the Florida Board of Pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacy Technician.
• Obtain CPhT or XCPT technician certification within 6 months of hire.
• Meet all Pharmacy Technician Level 1 requirements, including required competencies.
• Meet one of the following experience pathways: 12 months of Shands Pharmacy Technician experience; or 6 months of Shands Pharmacy Technician experience plus two years of hospital/institutional pharmacy or retail pharmacy experience; or 6 months of Shands Pharmacy Technician experience plus demonstrated ability to work independently and contribute to effective working relationships.
• Know how to operate a typewriter, calculator, fax machine, and computer workstation.
• Demonstrate the ability to perform mathematical calculations required to prepare medications.
• Provide the department with a valid telephone number and be accessible by telephone for hospital needs or emergencies.
• Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose.

Nice To Haves

• Experience managing projects.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Some knowledge of insurance and billing related to ambulatory practices is highly desired.
