About The Position

The Patient Care Technician works under the direction of professional staff to assist with patient care and support patients, the nursing unit, and professional staff. In Surgical Services, the technician also transports patients between units and transports outpatients to their vehicles after discharge.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet one of the following experience or training pathways: one year of experience as a nursing assistant in a comparable healthcare facility; graduation from a certified nursing assistant program; graduation from a Certified Medical Assistant program; nursing student with documented completion of the first semester of a nursing program; documented military experience as a medic or corpsman; foreign nursing graduate not currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the U.S.; or EMT certification/Paramedic license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care under the direction of professional staff.
• Provide support to patients, the nursing unit, and professional staff.
• Transport patients from unit to unit.
• Transport outpatients to their vehicles after discharge.
