About The Position

Florida Atlantic University (FAU) is seeking a full-time, non-tenure-track Instructor for its Phyllis and Harvey Sandler School of Social Work. This 12-month appointment is designed for an educator committed to teaching excellence, student engagement, and professional service. The primary focus will be on teaching online Master of Social Work (MSW) courses, including fully online and live synchronous Zoom sessions. The role involves delivering high-quality instruction across diverse learning modalities and student populations, supporting student learning and professional development. While the main assignment is within the online MSW program, the instructor may also teach in face-to-face or hybrid formats and may be assigned to any FAU campus, including Boca Raton and Davie, based on program needs. Responsibilities include curriculum delivery, student mentoring, participation in School and University service activities, and collaboration to support programmatic growth and student success. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to high-quality instruction and contribute to the School's mission and strategic priorities within a collaborative, student-centered academic community that values innovation, interdisciplinary engagement, and community partnerships.

Requirements

  • Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program
  • Minimum of two years of post-MSW professional experience
  • Experience teaching online in higher education

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate social work courses within the BSW, MSW, and DSW programs across face-to-face, hybrid, and online learning environments.
  • Provide high-quality instruction on the Boca Raton and Davie campuses, as well as through the School’s online programs.
  • Develop, revise, and maintain course materials, syllabi, assignments, and instructional activities that align with CSWE accreditation standards and University policies.
  • Support student learning, academic success, and professional development through mentoring, advising, and timely communication.
  • Contribute to School, College, and University service activities, including committee participation, faculty meetings, recruitment events, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and practicum education teams to support student placement, retention, and experiential learning opportunities.
