About The Position

The Sheppard Pratt School in Cumberland is a nonpublic special education day school providing year-round educational, vocational, and daily living services to students in grades K–12. The school supports students with emotional disabilities and autism in a nurturing, inclusive environment.

The One to One/Therapeutic Behavior Aide joins a collaborative learning environment supporting students’ cognitive, social, and emotional growth. This entry-level role provides experience in special education and may be relevant to those pursuing careers such as special education teacher, registered behavior technician (RBT), or board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA). The role may involve supporting a teacher as a paraprofessional educator or working as a dedicated one-to-one aide for an assigned student. Starting pay is $18.50 per hour, with a stated range of $18.50–$22.95 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Support the teacher as a paraprofessional educator and/or work with an assigned student as a dedicated one-to-one aide.
• Support Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives by documenting student progress and providing additional instruction and structure.
• Provide educational and adaptive behavior support.
• Provide behavior intervention and treatment.
• Lead classroom activities when opportunities arise.
