About The Position

The One on One Aide works exclusively with one child who needs specific attention for a specified period of time, providing support within an after-school program environment. The position is for the school year, 15 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Knowledge of classroom environments, special education environments, safety issues, and the needs of special education students.
• Oral and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to stand for long periods and to stoop, squat, and run.
• Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods.
• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of special education software is desired.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and maintain individualized help and assistance for a child with special needs within an after-school program environment.
• Reinforce material initially taught by after-school educators.
• Maintain or modify the child’s curriculum and enrichment activities to meet the child’s needs.
• Follow the child’s behavior plans.
• Communicate daily with parents or guardians, school-day teachers, the special education department, and other team members working with the child.
• Maintain a daily activity log documenting progress.
• Attend parent/educator conferences as required.
• Perform other duties as necessary and assigned by the classroom teacher and/or administrator.
