Interim On-Site Substitute Teacher
About The Position
Aspire Public Schools seeks an On-Site Substitute Teacher for an interim, full-time benefited position for the 2026–27 school year at Aspire Lionel Wilson College Preparatory Academy. The teacher provides a high-quality, personalized education program using the Aspire approach when regular classroom teachers are unavailable. Assigned to one specific school site, the On-Site Substitute is a consistent member of the staff and fills in for positions needed at the site on a daily basis. Aspire Public Schools operates a network of college-preparatory charter schools serving TK–12 scholars in California. Its purpose is to prepare scholars for success in college, career, and life, with a community grounded in well-being, belonging, community partnership, agency and self-determination, and joy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Valid California Teaching Credential or Substitute Permit required.
- Knowledge of subject matter, including State Standards and subject-specific frameworks.
- Knowledge of child cognitive development and various learning styles.
- Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative student data.
- Ability and willingness to reflect on and improve instructional practices.
Nice To Haves
- At least one year of experience working with students as a teacher, teacher intern, or teaching assistant is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Establish a culture of high expectations, including the shared belief that every student will attend college.
- Develop and implement lesson plans and classroom activities aligned with California State Standards and Aspire Instructional Guidelines.
- Assess students regularly and refine and differentiate classroom instruction based on assessment data and student needs.
- Communicate regularly with students and families, involving families as partners in their child’s education.
- Identify unique student needs and collaborate with team members to address those needs and improve instructional practices throughout the school.
- Participate actively in professional development and work closely with lead teachers, the principal, and instructional coaches.
- Fill in for positions needed at the assigned school site on a daily basis when regular staff are unavailable.
