About The Position

This is an on-call, 0-36 hours per week position for a compassionate educator with a passion for helping students thrive and a commitment to creating a positive, inclusive learning environment. The role is within a dedicated education community that values learning, collaboration, and Ahtna culture. The environment is family-friendly, with cultural and wellness activities and opportunities for fun. The position requires supporting students in a multi-age setting, stepping into different classroom environments, and fostering intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual, and psychological growth. A willingness to learn and participate in Ahtna language and cultural activities is highly valued, as is a genuine commitment to the mission of helping our citizens and community thrive.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and leadership skills; including the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds; establish and maintain cooperative relationships and work successfully as a member of a team.
• Excellent time management, problem-solving and organizational skills, with a proven ability to meet sometimes competing deadlines.
• Superb verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to function well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software.
• A valid Alaska Driver’s license and the ability to be insured on CVTC’s vehicle insurance policy is a requirement of this position.
• Must complete and pass a pre-employment state and federal background check and drug screening as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

• A minimum of 6 to 12 months of relevant experience as a substitute teacher, tutor and/or camp counselor is preferred.
• Preference for employment will be given to Alaska Native and American Indian peoples.
• CVTC also applies family and local hiring preferences.
