About The Position

Visiting Angels Amarillo is hiring an On Call Caregiver to fill weekend shifts and provide support to clients in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and private homes. The role serves clients with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s, and dementia. Caregivers support clients’ daily activities and quality of life across the Panhandle area, including Amarillo, Claude, Hereford, Dumas, Borger, Fritch, Canyon, and Pampa. Pay is $16 per hour. The posting lists a range of shift options, including 8-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts, PRN, short shifts, and one-hour shifts.

Requirements

A passion for serving others and caregiving.
Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid.
Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking, with attention to dietary constraints.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Help clients take prescribed medication.
Assist clients with ambulation and mobility at home and outside, including doctor’s appointments and walks.
Assist clients with personal care and hygiene.
Help clients with routine exercises.
Plan and prepare meals with clients’ assistance when they are able.
Shop for clients or accompany them while shopping.
Perform light housekeeping duties clients cannot complete on their own.
Provide pleasant and supportive companionship.
Report unusual incidents.
Act quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
