About The Position

Preferred Care at Home of Monmouth and Ocean County is seeking compassionate and reliable part-time fill-in caregivers to provide temporary, flexible in-home support for clients. Caregivers fill in for regular caregivers to help maintain consistent, quality care for seniors and individuals with disabilities. The role includes personalized assistance with daily living, companionship, safety monitoring, medication reminders, basic health monitoring, documentation, and communication with clients, families, and the care team. Caregivers may be called on short notice and work varying hours based on client needs.

Requirements

• Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for helping others and building meaningful relationships.
• Ability to follow care plans and instructions while exercising independence and good judgment.
• Reliable transportation to travel to client homes in Toms River and surrounding areas.
• Background check clearance and any certifications required by state regulations.
• Flexibility to work varying hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on client needs.
• Physical ability to assist clients with mobility and perform light housekeeping tasks as necessary.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in caregiving, home health, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalized in-home care, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
• Offer companionship and emotional support to help reduce clients’ loneliness and isolation.
• Monitor clients’ home environments for safety and comfort, and report concerns or changes in condition to the care coordination team.
• Provide medication reminders and basic health monitoring as directed by healthcare professionals and care plans.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care provided and noteworthy client observations.
• Communicate with clients, family members, and the Preferred Care at Home team to support seamless service delivery.
• Be available on short notice to cover shifts for regular caregivers.
