About The Position

Riverside Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Pulmonology clinic team in Kankakee, Illinois. In this role, you will provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a clinic setting, supporting both routine and acute care needs. Requirements

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Illinois.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• New Graduate RNs starting on or after 1/1/25 must earn Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) within 3 years of start date.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience, preferably in a clinic or outpatient setting.
• Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems is desirable.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a patient-centered approach to care.
• Proficiency in using medical equipment and EHR software.
• Compassionate, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of care.
• Exposure to Chemicals: Alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, Betadine, cleaning products.

• Exposure to Blood and Body Fluids: Performs venipuncture and non-blood specimen collection and performs finger sticks for specimen testing, but the use of universal precautions and protection reduces risk.
• Exposure to TB or Airborne Pathogens: Minimal - if a patient is infected, it is possible that the health care worker would be exposed, but it is greatly diminished by adherence to universal precautions.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care based on individual needs, clinical judgments, and provider orders.
• Administer medications, treatments, and vaccinations as prescribed.
• Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment plans, and preventive measures.
• Provide clear instructions on medication usage, self-care practices, and follow-up care.
• Perform and assist with various clinical procedures and tests as applicable, including blood draws, wound care, and EKGs.
• Ensure that all procedures are conducted safely and in accordance with clinic protocols.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical histories, treatment plans, and progress notes.
• Document all patient interactions and clinical activities in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare providers to coordinate patient care and follow-up.
• Facilitate referrals and communication between patients and other healthcare services as needed.
• Follow up on lab results, prescription requests, referrals, and patient inquiries, communicating effectively with the healthcare team and ensuring timely responses.
• Serve as an advocate for patients, addressing their concerns and ensuring that their needs are met with empathy and professionalism.
• Provide support and reassurance throughout their care experience.
• Adhere to infection control protocols and standards to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for patients and staff.
• Follow proper procedures for sterilization and handling of medical equipment.
• Maintain clinical supplies and equipment by ensuring stock levels, expediting orders, and verifying receipt of supplies.
• Ensure clinic compliance with DNV regulations and maintain accurate documentation of all required clinical patient information during the rooming process.
• Adhere to AIDET format and standards.
• Acknowledge and greet all customers timely with a professional and friendly demeanor.
• May include assisting with scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and performing other administrative tasks as needed to support clinic operations.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and training programs to stay current with best practices and advancements in nursing care.
• Engage in community health initiatives and outreach programs as assigned to promote wellness and preventive care.
• Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends.
• Maintain and administer medications accurately, including sample logging in EMR and medication room management, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
