About The Position

At Uncommon Schools, Office Managers (OMs) are central to the School Operations Teams, ensuring students, families, and staff have the necessary information and resources to succeed. They coordinate day-to-day operational systems and routines to ensure the school runs seamlessly. The role is specialized into three types: Office Manager – Communications, Office Manager - Data & Systems, and Office Manager – Finance. Uncommon Schools is a nonprofit network of high-performing public charter schools dedicated to providing an exceptional K-12 education in economically disadvantaged communities across Boston, Camden, New York City, Newark, and Rochester. The organization is committed to closing the college completion gap and preparing every student for college and beyond, with students consistently exceeding national benchmarks. Requirements

  • Passionate commitment to the mission of Uncommon Schools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing while demonstrating strong interpersonal skills with teammates, teachers, students, families, and additional stakeholders.
  • Organized and able to maintain key systems such as attendance, vendor deliveries, student documentation and paperwork.
  • Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor in the face of competing demands and external pressures.
  • Strong time management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time and meet tight deadlines.
  • Achieves accuracy and thoroughness when completing a task.
  • 1 to 3 years of teaching or school administrative office experience.

  • Spanish-speaking skills strongly preferred to support effective communication with our students, families, and community members.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for all of the school’s constituents in person, over the phone, and via email (Office Manager – Communications).
  • Execute enrollment of new students and re-enrollment of current students (Office Manager – Communications).
  • Manage daily student attendance and daily student operational systems (Office Manager – Communications).
  • Maintain up-to-date student information and student files (Office Manager – Communications).
  • Plan and support logistics and set up for school events and activities as needed (all Office Manager roles).
  • Manage bill pay and accounting (Office Manager – Data & Systems, Office Manager – Finance).
  • Oversee procurement and supply management for all student, staff, and event supplies (Office Manager – Data & Systems, Office Manager – Finance).
  • Maintain accurate Student Information Systems for the school and local school system (Office Manager – Data & Systems).
  • Serve as the secondary contact for all of the school’s constituents in person, over the phone, and via email (Office Manager – Data & Systems).
  • Execute bill pay and accounting for largest K-8 campuses and High Schools (Office Manager – Finance).
  • Execute procurement and supply management for all student, staff, and event supplies for largest K-8 campuses and High Schools (Office Manager – Finance).
