About The Position

This role is responsible for keeping the premises of commercial and institutional buildings in clean and orderly condition by performing various duties. The supervisor will assist the Facility Manager with scheduling and administrative tasks, and will oversee the cleaning of rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas. Responsibilities also include cleaning rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies, as well as operating different types of equipment such as burnishers, scrubbers, and pressure washers. The role requires the use of ManLift or ScissorLift machines and washing windows, door panels, and sills. Additionally, the position involves physical tasks such as lifting chairs, moving chemicals in buckets, and moving tables.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Basic computer skills desired but not required.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to climb or balance.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision and Ability to adjust focus.

  • Prior experience in janitorial housekeeping preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist Facility Manager with scheduling
  • Assist with administrative duties
  • Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and locker rooms and other work areas.
  • Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
  • Lifting chairs and place them over tables (approx. chair weight: 20-25 lbs.)
  • Moving chemicals (5 gal buckets -- approx. weight 40+ lbs.)
  • Moving tables (approx. weight 40+ lbs.)
  • Operates different types of equipment (i.e. burnishers, scrubbers, pressure washer)
  • Uses ManLift or ScissorLift Machine
  • Washes windows, door panels, and sills
  • Supervision of shift responsibility, handling employee issues
