About The Position

Rohadfox is seeking an Office Engineer with experience supporting civil projects, specifically road and bridge work. This role will provide construction contract administration support in cooperation with the Construction Operations Engineer (COE) and Project Engineer (PE) on highway construction projects. The Office Engineer will be responsible for reviewing the contractor's daily work for compliance with the contract, safety plan, environmental controls, construction methods, and applicable laws and regulations. They will also review construction schedules for compliance and reasonableness using Primavera or similar software, maintain accurate construction contract records, and follow established record-keeping processes. Key duties include reviewing contractor monthly invoices, material submittals, shop drawings, As-Built drawings, and contractor requests, providing comments and recommendations to the PE. The role involves reviewing and recommending acceptance or rejection of daily reports, processing submittals from receipt through approval, and potentially completing the Project Diary, Monthly Progress Estimate, Material Register, status reports, and ensuring project files are properly maintained and complete.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering
  • EIT Certificate
  • 4 years minimum experience in highway and bridge construction
  • At least 1 year serving as Project or Resident Engineer, or Assistant Project or Resident Engineer on state or federal highway or bridge construction projects.
  • Comprehensive understanding of highway engineering principles, construction methods, traffic control, environmental methods, surveying, equipment, trades, materials, schedules and practices.
  • Direct understanding and basic understanding of the latest editions of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices AASHTO Policy on Geometric Design of Highway and Streets, ADA Standard for Accessible Design and AASHTO Standard Specifications for Transportation Materials and Methods of Sampling and Testing.
  • Ability to interpret project plans, specifications, contracts, schedules, regulations, submittals and detailed cost estimates.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction contract administration and contract filing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide construction contract administration support.

  • Provide comments and/or recommendations to the PE on contractor submissions.
  • Review and recommend acceptance or rejection of daily reports submitted by the contractor.
  • Process submittals from receipt through approval and return to the Construction Contractor.
  • Complete the Project Diary, Monthly Progress Estimate, Material Register, and status reports.
  • Ensure project files are properly maintained and complete.
