The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking an Office Assistant at Southwestern Illinois Correctional Center. This position is responsible for keyboarding a variety of documents, screening all incoming transfers for eligibility, and receiving and directing phone calls. In addition, they will serve as clerical support to the Clinical Services Department and assist in processing work release application packets. We invite all qualified applicants to apply. Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and one (1) year of related office experience.
  • Requires ability to keyboard accurately 35 words per minute.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
  • Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
  • Applicants are required to abide by all vaccine and/or other medical standards as set out by the employer.

Responsibilities

  • Keyboards a variety of documents including reclassification reports, grievances, performance evaluations, audit documents, transfer, day release, and/or funeral furlough, etc. for clinical services.
  • Screens all incoming transfers for program sentence credit eligibility.
  • Receives and directs phone calls.
  • Serves as clerical support to the Clinical Services department.
  • Assists in processing work release application packets submitted by the correctional counselors to assist individual in custody transfers.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties listed above.
