About The Position

The recruitment is exempt from the hiring freeze (Administrative Order 358). This recruitment is open to Alaska Residents only. Applicants must meet Alaska Residency Requirements in order to be considered for employment at this time. By joining the Alaska State Troopers as an Office Assistant 2, you will be an integral part of the C Detachment team serving Western Alaska. In this position you will work behind the scenes providing support for the Nome and Unalakleet posts in the areas of judicial services, case management, travel, and general clerical. You will learn a variety of skills and gain broad knowledge of the Department of Public Safety, Division of Alaska State Troopers that will prepare you for many promotional opportunities. Requirements

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • One year of experience that includes clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
  • Excellent customer service skills, demonstrating professional and friendly communication while handling a wide range of situations and demographics.
  • Strong written, verbal, and detail-oriented communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information.
  • Attention to detail while working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience and skill with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Time management skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities from several sources while working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must submit to a fingerprint based criminal history background check.
  • Must read, understand, and agree to via signature, an agreement of confidentiality concerning the work commonly encountered within the Department of Public Safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Some positions in this class may require the incumbent to operate motor vehicles. Such positions require that the applicant possess a regular driver's license and be 18 years of age or older.
  • Some position in this class may require skill in typing. Recruitment and selection may include this requirement.
