About The Position

The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for an Office Assistant 2 for the Anchorage Correctional Complex (ACC), located in Anchorage, Alaska. This position in the Property Section at the Anchorage Correctional Complex involves independently managing inmate property and financial accounts for a population of 800–1,000 inmates. Responsibilities include accurate data entry, handling large sums of cash, maintaining accountability through ACOMS, and ensuring inmates receive their belongings and funds upon release.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • One year of experience that includes clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
  • Customer Service: Works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  • Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
  • Flexibility: Is open to change and new information; adapts behavior or work methods in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles; effectively deals with uncertainty.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must pass a criminal history check.
  • Must be fingerprinted.
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS).
