About The Position

This position is open to Alaska Residents Only. The Division of Juvenile Justice is recruiting to fill a Office Assistant 2 position located in Bethel at Bethel Juvenile Probation Office. Under the general supervision of the Bethel District Supervisor, independently performs a wide variety of complex clerical duties in support of Juvenile Probation Officers, and Juvenile Justice Counselors facility staff. Represents the Division of Juvenile Justice as the primary first contact at the Bethel Youth Facility directing incoming telephone inquiries and greeting the public. As the primary reception for the office, provides information, explains procedures to the public and other governmental agencies with information requiring knowledge of juvenile probation and facility programs. After determining public needs, direct to appropriate staff. Assurance of proper messages, taking determination of calls that may need emergency handling and use of proper procedures is required of all contacts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • One year of experience that includes clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.

  • Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
  • Must submit the names and telephone numbers of three (3) professional references at time of interview.
  • Must submit two (2) performance evaluations from previous employers, if available, at time of interview.
  • Must submit a copy of academic transcripts, to verify post-secondary education used to meet the minimum qualifications, at time of interview. (Unofficial are okay, please ensure that the institution name is listed on the transcripts).

  • Some positions in this class may require the incumbent to operate motor vehicles. Such positions require that the applicant possess a regular driver's license and be 18 years of age or older.
