About The Position

This position is critical to the functioning of the Division of Commercial Fisheries and is responsible for providing administrative support for the Arctic-Yukon-Kuskokwim (AYK) region. Tasks to accomplish this mission include processing biweekly payroll, Personnel Action Requests (hiring/separation/seasonal), payroll reconciliation, and data entry.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or the equivalent
  • One year of experience that includes clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with computers, software applications, databases, and accounting systems.
  • Ability to interact with recipients of services (internal or external customers) in a way that provides accurate, timely, and effective information and service courteously and professionally.
  • Ability to multi-task while remaining calm, organized, and accurate without compromising deadlines.
  • Someone who is open to change and new information; rapidly adapts to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles.
  • Someone punctual, dependable, reliable, and detail oriented.
  • Demonstrates excellent attendance, and can work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of a regular driver's license and being 18 years of age or older (required for some positions in this class)
  • Skill in typing (recruitment and selection may include this requirement)
