The Staff Occupational Therapist Assistant assists the Staff Occupational Therapist with resident related activities and direct resident care. This role involves treating residents as directed by the Occupational Therapist, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring a safe treatment environment. The OTA participates in resident care conferences, collaborates with the nursing department, and communicates regularly with the supervising occupational therapist regarding resident progress, goals, and discharge planning. They also provide in-services, educate residents and families, and recommend necessary durable medical equipment to promote independence in ADLs. Confidentiality of resident and company information is paramount. The OTA is responsible for reporting equipment issues and contributing to quality assurance and facility rehabilitation program development. A positive and effective interaction with residents, families, staff, and colleagues is essential.
