Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)
About The Position
Silver Lake Hospital in Newark, New Jersey, is hiring a full-time Occupational Therapy Assistant to support long-term acute care patients in improving their daily living activities. The role administers treatment plans under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist and in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, regulations, and guidelines. It provides direct care to adult and geriatric patients and contributes to program development, quality improvement, program assessment, and departmental policy and procedure development. Silver Lake Hospital is a long-term acute care hospital serving higher-acuity patients who have not responded to short-term treatment in general hospitals. The hospital is described as safe and state of the art, and is designed to admit and care for critically ill patients.
Requirements
- Associate's degree from an ACOTE-accredited program.
- Current New Jersey OTA license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
Nice To Haves
- 1–3 years of hospital OTA experience.
- Experience with tracheas and ventilators.
Responsibilities
- Administer treatment plans under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist and in accordance with applicable standards, regulations, and guidelines.
- Provide direct patient care to adult and geriatric patients.
- Contribute to program development, quality improvement, and program assessment.
- Contribute to departmental policy and procedure development.
