About The Position

Amedisys, part of the Optum family of businesses, provides home health, hospice, and community-based services. The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients in their homes to promote independence, safety, and quality of life. The role helps patients regain or maintain daily-living skills after illness, injury, or functional decline, and collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to develop individualized treatment plans in accordance with physician orders and agency policies. The position is offered with a $5,000 sign-on bonus for external candidates.

Requirements

Graduate of an occupational therapy program accredited by ACOTE of AOTA, or successor organizations of ACOTE.
Current license to practice occupational therapy in the state assigned.
Eligible to take, or have successfully completed, the NBCOT entry-level certification examination for occupational therapists.
Current CPR certification.
At least 1 year of occupational therapy experience; candidates with less than 1 year require approval from regional clinical leaders and appropriate mentoring and/or participation in a residency program.

Responsibilities

Deliver occupational therapy services under a physician-approved plan of care.
Ensure the plan of care addresses problems identified in the assessment, or document the rationale when identified problems are not addressed.
Be accountable for the safety and effectiveness of occupational therapy service delivery.
Complete documentation accurately and on time.
Supervise the home health aide when an RN is not active in the case.
Perform other duties as assigned.
