About The Position

Provides therapy to patients based on patient need and medical direction. Provides patient and caregiver education and arranges adaptive equipment as needed. Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) certification is preferred but not required. On-site mentorship is available.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited occupational therapy program.
• Michigan Occupational Therapist license upon hire.
• Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR) certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 90 days, or from the American Red Cross within 90 days.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) certification.
• Master's degree.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients to assess disability within the scope of practice, establish goals and a treatment plan, and make appropriate recommendations.
• Provide treatment and education to restore and help patients achieve maximal function; assess treatment effectiveness and modify goals or methods as needed.
• Document patient evaluations and treatment in compliance with department standards and medical-legal and reimbursement procedures.
• Instruct and train rehabilitation staff, nursing staff, other medical personnel, and students regarding patient needs and rehabilitation services.
• Participate in process improvement, patient satisfaction initiatives, program development, and marketing activities.
• Meet productivity standards set by the department.
• Improve skills by applying continuing education, participating in applicable competencies, and developing new patient-care concepts and skills for various population groups.
