About The Position

Sage Group HealthCare Staffing is seeking an Occupational Therapist for a permanent placement position. This is a full-time role primarily focused on outpatient settings, with occasional coverage in acute care. The position is open to local candidates and those willing to relocate. The role requires a Bachelor's Degree, Occupational Therapist Registration (OTR), and NBCOT Certification. A BLS Certification is highly preferred. Candidates with outpatient experience and over one year of experience are preferred, though new graduates may be considered. The position involves evaluating patients, developing treatment plans, providing interventions, educating patients and families, supervising assistants and aides, recommending adaptive equipment, documenting progress, and participating in team conferences and quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Occupational Therapist (OTR) License – Required
  • NBCOT Certification in Occupational Therapy – Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree – Required
  • BLS Certification – Highly Preferred (within 1 month of hire or transfer)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Ability to demonstrate and teach treatment routines to professional and non-professional individuals
  • Must successfully complete orientation and competency requirements
  • Must comply with OSHA requirements and infection control standards
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform therapy activities for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or carry 21–50 lbs.
  • Ability to frequently perform activities requiring up to 20 lbs. of force.
  • Ability to constantly handle equipment and perform patient care-related movements.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions with reasonable accommodation.
  • Successful completion of company-specific orientation and new hire competency requirements.
  • Ability to work in environments where exposure to communicable diseases may occur.
  • Ability to correctly use personal protective equipment (PPE).

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients’ functional abilities through formal and informal assessments of skeletal, neurological, respiratory, cardiovascular, developmental, social, and cognitive functions.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, patient goals, and tolerance levels.
  • Create and update treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Provide occupational therapy interventions to improve patients’ functional independence and quality of life.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding conditions, treatment plans, prognosis, and home programs.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to Occupational Therapist Assistants, aides, Home Health Aides, and students according to regulatory standards.
  • Recommend adaptive equipment and assist patients with obtaining necessary supportive devices.
  • Document patient responses, progress, and changes in condition according to compliance standards.
  • Complete required documentation for billing and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in team conferences, interdisciplinary meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Promote occupational therapy services through education and community outreach activities.
  • Function as a case manager for assigned patients and coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and follow organizational policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate commitment to excellent patient care through teamwork, professionalism, and service excellence.
  • Provide outpatient occupational therapy services with occasional acute care coverage.
  • Promote process improvement and assist with program development.
  • Maintain competency with required technology systems and electronic documentation platforms.
  • Follow workplace safety standards and use appropriate personal protective equipment when required.
  • Maintain regular attendance and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
