About The Position

Sage Group HealthCare Staffing is seeking an Occupational Therapist I for a permanent, full-time position in West Branch, Michigan. This role focuses on both Acute Care and Outpatient settings. New graduates are encouraged to apply. The position involves evaluating patients, developing and implementing treatment plans, providing therapy interventions, educating patients and families, supervising assistants and students, and documenting patient care. The Occupational Therapist will also coordinate with an interdisciplinary team, recommend adaptive equipment, and participate in various healthcare initiatives. The pay rate starts at $32.00/hour, with potential for higher compensation based on experience. A sign-on bonus of up to $14,000 is available with a 2-year commitment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy – Required
  • Active Occupational Therapist (OTR) License – Required
  • NBCOT Certification – Required
  • Ability to independently evaluate, develop, and implement patient treatment plans
  • Strong communication, documentation, organizational, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs), therapy aides, and students
  • Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Knowledge of rehabilitation techniques, adaptive equipment, and patient education

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients using standardized and clinical assessment techniques to determine functional limitations and rehabilitation needs.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on physician orders, patient goals, and clinical findings.
  • Provide occupational therapy interventions to improve functional independence and quality of life.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, home exercise programs, adaptive equipment, and safety recommendations.
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, therapy aides, and students in accordance with professional standards and regulations.
  • Document patient evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries accurately and timely.
  • Coordinate patient care with physicians, nurses, case managers, and other interdisciplinary healthcare professionals.
  • Recommend adaptive equipment and assist patients in obtaining necessary medical devices.
  • Participate in case management, interdisciplinary meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and program development.
  • Promote occupational therapy services through patient education and community outreach.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, infection prevention standards, and organizational policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
