About The Position

This is a co-op position at Elk Valley Resources (EVR), a Canadian steelmaking coal producer operating four mines in British Columbia and employing over 5,000 people. EVR is committed to responsible resource development, environmental performance, and building strong partnerships. As part of the Glencore Group, EVR has a history dating back over 100 years in Canada. This co-op role offers hands-on experience in applying academic knowledge to real-world mining operations, with opportunities for mentorship and professional development. The position is located in the Elk Valley of British Columbia, known for its outdoor recreational opportunities and work-life balance.

Requirements

  • Working towards an Undergraduate/Graduate degree or diploma in Occupational Hygiene, Occupational and Environmental Health or Industrial Hygiene
  • Motivated self-starters, able to work under minimal supervision
  • Able to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic work environment
  • Willingness to work outdoors
  • Ability to operate vehicles, at our operations, in various weather conditions and terrain
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a capability to communicate complex ideas to all levels
  • Excellent computer skills with the ability to track and analyze data as well as manage project timelines
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Word and Excel is necessary
  • Working knowledge of PowerPoint and Access
  • Impeccable record keeping and excellent organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License or extra-provincial equivalent, without learner's restrictions is preferred
  • Experience working in mining or heavy industry considered an asset
