About The Position

This is a Locum Tenens position for an Obstetrics & Gynecology Physician in Hazard, KY. The role involves providing call-only coverage for inpatient OB/GYN emergencies, managing inpatient cases, performing deliveries (vaginal and cesarean), and providing consultations for complicated pregnancies. The physician will be on call 24-hour shifts and must respond to calls within 30 minutes. The average daily patient volume is 2, with 2 admissions. The facility uses the MediTech EMR system and has support staff including 2 RNs.

Requirements

Board Certified (BC) required
Licensed in KY or Universal License (IMLC)
BLS certification
ACLS certification
PALS certification
ABLS certification
Fellowship required

Responsibilities

Provide call coverage for OB/GYN emergencies
Manage inpatient obstetrics and gynecology cases
Perform vaginal and cesarean deliveries as needed
Provide consultation for complicated pregnancies
Respond to call within 30 minutes
Rounding on assigned patients
Perform Low risk pregnancy procedures
Perform FHR interpretation - NST/CST/FSE
Perform OB Ultrasounds - Performance of, interpretation
Perform Level I/Screening (viability) ultrasounds
Perform Level II/Targeted (anatomic) ultrasounds
Perform routine delivery (Vaginal, Low forceps)
Make decision-making for c-section
Perform complicated delivery (C-section, Breech, Multiple births, Abruptions, VBAC's)
Repair of 3rd & 4th degree lacerations
Perform Office/minor gynecology procedures (IUD, Cystoscopy, Colposcopy, cryosurgery, LEEP, etc.)
Perform Surgical gynecology procedures (Open; Laparoscopic diagnostic/minor only - tubal ligation, LOA's, chronal tubation; Operative/major (includes diagnostic) - ectopic pregnancy, ovary removal, cystectomy, extensive LOA's)
