About The Position

Mercy Medical Group is seeking an OB Hospitalist Physician to provide inpatient obstetric care at Methodist Hospital of Sacramento. The role covers the obstetric emergency department and labor and delivery, provides emergency gynecological consultations, and assists with surgical needs. The physician will participate in a growing hospitalist program and collaborate with a network of specialists to deliver continuous, high-quality care, with an emphasis on patient safety, quality outcomes, compassionate care, and work-life balance.

The hospital performs approximately 1,800 births annually and has a Level II nursery, with support from the Level III NICU at Mercy San Juan Medical Center. A 24-hour backup OB is on call. Full-time work consists of twelve 12-hour shifts per month, which may be scheduled as 24-hour shifts. Additional shifts and regional hospitalist or backup shifts are available for additional compensation. The position offers shareholder track, competitive compensation with bonus potential, sign-on and moving bonuses for eligible full-time applicants, desirable benefits, and employer-provided tail insurance.

Requirements

• MD or DO degree.
• Board certification in OB/GYN through ABMS or AOA; active board certification is required.
• Active or eligible California license.
• DEA certification.
• Strong clinical background and passion for inpatient obstetric care.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Excellent communication and decision-making skills, including the ability to manage diverse medical situations in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to compassionate, high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities
