About The Position

Join Corewell Health’s Nutrition Services team and support patient meal service. The role includes preparing and assembling food, operating the tray line, delivering and retrieving patient meal trays, cleaning dishes and equipment, and maintaining stock. Clear communication and collaboration with team members help ensure continuity of service and a positive work environment. No experience is required; training and support are provided, with opportunities to learn new skills and develop a career.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain serving lines, including dishes, silverware, food items, and condiments; prepare cold foods and ensure items are stored, refrigerated, and dated properly.
• Serve food, replenish items as needed, and clean food stations after use.
• Set up and operate the cash register and cash-handling equipment; collect payments accurately, balance the register, record totals, and deposit money.
• Wash, clean, and store pots, pans, utensils, equipment, and major kitchen equipment; operate the dishwasher and mechanical floor cleaner.
• Transport refuse and other materials safely using large carts, and complete assigned cleaning tasks to maintain sanitary conditions.
• Set up and deliver food carts to patient and other delivery areas; retrieve carts and return them for cleaning.
• Strip patient and cafeteria trays and sort soiled equipment for cleaning.
• Work an assigned tray-line station and assemble patient trays according to established standards and dietary requirements.
• Deliver patient trays accurately by verifying room number, bed number, birth date, and patient name.
• Participate in quality monitoring, including taking and recording food, refrigeration, and dish-machine temperatures.
• Help care for and maintain department facilities, equipment, and supplies, and report malfunctions to management.
