About The Position

Under basic supervision, assists with food preparation and presentation in Minot Public Schools (MPS) kitchens. The position prepares and serves food, may operate a cash register or service terminal, and cleans dining and food preparation areas. Duties may vary by assignment and must be performed in compliance with MPS policies and quality, safety, sanitation, and health standards. Employees are expected to attend work regularly and be ready to begin at their assigned location and scheduled hours. Work is performed in various MPS food preparation and distribution facilities. A valid North Dakota State Driver’s License may be required. The position is subject to veteran’s preference.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, procedures, and safety standards.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• A valid North Dakota State Driver’s License may be required.

Nice To Haves

• Some customer service work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation and presentation in compliance with MPS policies and quality and safety standards.
• Prepare dining areas for meal times; prepare and serve meals and snacks.
• Verify food temperatures to meet safety requirements.
• Operate a cash register or service terminal when required.
• Clean and maintain orderly, safe, and sanitary food service facilities and dining areas, including tables, chairs, floors, surfaces, dishes, utensils, tools, and equipment.
• Demonstrate courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with clients, visitors, and District staff.
• Maintain confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and District information.
• Follow compliance rules governing child abuse.
• Perform related duties as required or assigned.
