About The Position

The Nutrition Service Supervisor supports the coordination and direction of Encompass Health’s Nutrition Services Department, helping oversee nutritional support for patients, employees, and guests. The role sets and implements policies and procedures that guide cafeteria management, food preparation, budgeting, purchasing, staff development, and safety practices. The supervisor supports the Nutrition Service Manager in their absence and helps coordinate patient meals and cafeteria food service while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Two years of healthcare food service experience, preferably in a supervisory role.
• Thorough knowledge of nutrition and dietetics, administration, and operation of hospital food services.
• Knowledge of H.A.C.C.P. guidelines.
• Certified Dietary Manager or Dietetic Technician registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, if required by the state or regulatory agency.
• Active membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, if mandated by the state or regulatory agency.

Nice To Haves

• Graduate of an associate degree program in food service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the Nutrition Service Manager in their absence.
• Perform and document purchasing, receiving, and inventory control of food and supplies.
• Maintain sanitation and proper temperatures to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
• Maintain correct food-handling techniques to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
• Determine the quality, including taste, temperature, and appearance, quantity, and portion size of food required.
• Ensure production for patient meals and the cafeteria line is properly coordinated.
• Ensure proper handling of cash and tickets and maintain cash and ticket reports.
• Coordinate dietetic services with other departments.
• Purchase food and assist with and assign duties for special needs or occasions.
• Ensure in-service education meetings are held and required courses are completed.
