About The Position

MedVet is seeking a Nursing/ICU Veterinary Technician to join its clinical team. The Nursing department provides constant supervision to patients to ensure treatment plans are carried out. The role involves identifying patient distress and responding appropriately, phlebotomy, placing IV catheters, assisting with patient recovery, and providing client follow-up and education. The position is for overnights and offers a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 based on skillset and experience.

Requirements

• Prior veterinary experience is required.
• Proficiency in calculations, including drug calculations, constant rate infusions, and unit conversions.
• Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Employment is contingent upon passing a drug screen and background check.

Nice To Haves

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Previous nursing or critical care experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases, and gather additional information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize care based on assessment.
• Partner with the patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication, and nursing care concerns.
• Educate clients on home care instructions, medications and their indications and adverse reactions, and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist the DVM with patient assessment, treatment, and procedures.
• Monitor and provide nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
