About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital that provides inpatient post-ICU services to chronic, critically ill patients requiring extended healing and recovery. Nursing Assistants provide compassionate patient care throughout this recovery process. The position is per diem in Richmond, Virginia, with 12-hour shifts and compensation of $25 per hour. The hospital provides an extensive orientation program and notes that demonstrated skill and dedication may lead to potential full-time opportunities. Part-time and per-diem employees may qualify for 401(k) based on reaching 1,000 hours during their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or relevant work experience of 3 or more years.
• Hospital experience as a nursing assistant, nursing assistant certification, or experience in a related field such as medical assisting.
• BLS certification is required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient services including bathing with basin-less bath products, oral hygiene, oral feeding, and hair care.
• Participate in hourly rounds.
• Transport patients to and from treatment centers when necessary and assist transporters in moving patients into and out of stretchers and wheelchairs.
• Maintain the cleanliness of instruments and equipment such as bedpans, urinals, and wheelchairs.
• Keep patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
• Maintain unit stock levels of supplies and equipment as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
