About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Battle Creek is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. Nursing Assistants play a central role in delivering compassionate care to patients during vulnerable and difficult moments. The position is per diem/PRN and offers shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The pay rate is $24.00 per hour, with shift differentials of $2.00 for nights and $1.75 for weekends.

The hospital provides an extensive orientation program to support a smooth transition into the setting. Demonstrated skills and dedication may lead to potential full-time opportunities. Part-time and per-diem employees may qualify for 401(k) based on reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
• Hospital experience as a nursing assistant, nursing assistant certification, or experience in a related field such as medical assisting.
• BLS certification is required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient services including bathing with basin-less bath products, oral hygiene, oral feeding, and hair care.
• Participate in hourly rounds.
• Transport patients to and from treatment centers when necessary, and assist transporters with moving patients in and out of stretchers and wheelchairs.
• Maintain the cleanliness of instruments and equipment such as bedpans, urinals, and wheelchairs.
• Keep patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
• Maintain unit stock levels of supplies and equipment as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
