About The Position
Nursing Assistants work closely with nurses to provide direct patient care, support patients with activities of daily living, and help prevent complications. This onsite position is based at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, New York, and involves 12-hour shifts, with every other weekend and holidays as assigned. A mandatory orientation consisting of one full week, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., must be completed before starting work on the unit. No travel is expected.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent experience.
- BLS; training will be provided if needed.
Nice To Haves
- NYS Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA).
- Previous patient care experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including toileting, ambulating, and repositioning patients.
- Monitor and record fluid intake and output and patient weights.
- Obtain vital signs and report abnormal findings or changes in patient condition to the RN.
- Reinforce patient education, including incentive spirometer use and fall prevention.
- Maintain a clean and organized patient bedside area to support a safe workspace.
- Intentionally round on each patient every hour.
