About The Position
The Nurse Assistant works on 4 North, a 37-bed medical-surgical unit focused on stroke and neurology patients. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the role provides patient care according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy. Duties also include safely transporting patients by wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services, providing constant observation in person or through remote video monitoring when required for patient safety, performing receptionist and clerical tasks, and documenting care in the electronic medical record. The unit supports development of critical-thinking and clinical-judgment skills while caring for patients with complex disease processes. Its leadership emphasizes a judgment-free learning environment, professional communication, and teamwork. The position is based at Troy Hospital.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support certification is required.
Nice To Haves
- Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred.
- Current CNA certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Safely transport patients by wheelchair or stretcher.
- Provide dispatch services and document services appropriately.
- Provide in-person or remote video constant observation for patients assessed as requiring it to maximize their safety.
- Perform general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
- Document care provided in the electronic medical record.
