Nurse Unit Coordinator - Stepdown Unit
About The Position
Sentara is hiring a Nurse (RN) Unit Coordinator at Sentara Norfolk General's Step-Down Unit in Norfolk, Virginia. This is a full-time, permanent position on the Weekend Day shift (7a-7p), working either Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday. The unit is a new, 24-bed Medicine unit equipped with modern technology, including new computers in every room and charting stations in hallways. The patient population is diverse, including cardiac, renal failure, vascular, sepsis, pneumonia, sickle cell, OR-prep, and various wound care cases. This role offers a great opportunity to gain experience that can lead to ICU or ED positions. The Nurse Unit Coordinator demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for their assigned specialty, provides clinical leadership, leads safety and quality initiatives, simplifies workflow, and contributes to staff development. The role aims to increase staff satisfaction and promote excellent customer service.
Requirements
- 18 months nursing experience required.
- BSN Degree REQUIRED
- Virginia RN License REQUIRED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 90-days of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Master degree preferred, if the graduate degree is not in nursing then the BSN is required.
- Professional Specialty Nursing Certification preferred.
