Health Unit Coordinator - Neuro Stepdown
About The Position
The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) supports the H62/H63 Neurology Stepdown Units at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus. The units care for patients with a diverse range of neurological and medical diagnoses, including ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, subdural hematomas, seizures, brain tumors, neuromuscular disorders, and spinal injuries. The HUC provides customer service to patients, families, and visitors while using administrative and clerical skills to support efficient unit operations and patient care. The schedule is nights, 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of experience in a customer service-related role.
- Experience with typing, computer training, or equivalent coursework.
Nice To Haves
- College degree.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Prior experience with computer work and healthcare experience.
Responsibilities
- Greet, welcome, and orient newly admitted and transferred patients to the unit in person.
- Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
- Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Help patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
- Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
- Perform computer tasks, including updating schedules and managing patient information.
- Assist with unit clerical functions and troubleshoot equipment failures involving the call system, portable phones, WOWs, and other unit devices.
