About The Position

The Nurse Technician provides non-licensed patient care according to department and LCMC policies and the Louisiana State Board of Nursing. In the ICU Stepdown setting, the role assists nursing personnel in caring for acutely ill patients with cardiac, medical, surgical, and post-critical-care needs. The Nurse Technician works collaboratively with and under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), caring for patients whose needs range from minimal to moderately high risk and are generally routine, standardized, and predictable. The Nurse Technician is mentored by the RN, recognizes personal and legal limitations, and seeks assistance and guidance when appropriate.

Requirements

• Two completed rounds of clinical rotations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with direct patient care services, procedures, and related tasks, including patient check-in, vital signs, bathing, positioning, ambulation, nutrition, elimination activities, and assistance with medical examinations.
• Keep the registered nurse informed of patient status.
• Document care activities.
• Communicate with the entire unit team.
• Perform routine procedures included in the position competencies.
• Maintain or obtain medical supplies and equipment.
• Perform clerical and administrative functions in support of unit activities.
• Practice safety, environmental, and infection control methods.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
