About The Position
The Nurse Tech works as a member of the care team to deliver quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Provider. The role performs basic skills according to department guidelines, communicates observations to the health care team, and collects and reports patients’ and families’ physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs as directed by the RN or Provider. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating patients, wound care, catheterization, and serving as a patient safety attendant. The Nurse Tech ensures required documentation is accurate and timely. The position is in the 4AB Med Surg Care Unit at Blodgett Hospital, an acute care teaching hospital. The medical-surgical units primarily care for internal medicine patients and provide opportunities to care for a variety of conditions, including high-acuity patients. The role is part-time, with 24 scheduled hours per week, a day shift from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., variable workdays, and every-other-weekend work.
Requirements
- High school diploma or work equivalent.
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS), required within 90 days.
Responsibilities

- Communicate observations to members of the health care team.
- Collect and report patients’ and families’ physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs as directed by the RN or Provider.
- Take vital signs and check blood sugars.
- Provide bed baths and assist patients with ambulation.
- Perform wound care and catheterization.
- Act as a safety attendant for patients.
- Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
