About The Position
The Nurse Tech is a patient care role within the emergency department of United Hospital. Nurse Techs work under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) and act as team members in delivering quality patient care under the supervision of an RN or Provider. They perform basic skills according to department guidelines and communicate observations to the health care team. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, checking blood sugars, providing bed baths, assisting with ambulation and wound care, catheterization, and acting as a safety attendant for patients. The posting describes the unit as a supportive team environment offering exposure to med/surg and progressive/ICU backgrounds and opportunities to build connections throughout the Corewell community. The role is part time with variable shifts and variable workdays.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or ARC is required within 90 days.
Responsibilities
- Deliver quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Provider.
- Perform basic skills according to department guidelines.
- Communicate observations to members of the health care team.
- Take vital signs and check blood sugars.
- Provide bed baths and assist patients with ambulation.
- Provide wound care and perform catheterization.
- Act as a safety attendant for patients.
