This role provides leadership and oversight to nursing staff while ensuring high-quality patient care in a behavioral health hospital setting. Requirements

  • Requires current license as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Revised Code
  • 24 mos. exp. in psychiatric nursing or delivery of nursing services to persons with developmental disabilities
  • 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in employee training & development
  • 3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in public relations
  • 3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in counseling
  • Official transcripts are required for all post-secondary education, coursework, or degrees listed on the application.
  • Applicants must submit an official transcript before receiving a formal employment offer.
  • Failure to provide transcripts within five (5) business days of the request will result in disqualification from further consideration.
  • Transcripts printed from the institution’s website will not be accepted.
  • The Ohio Department of Behavioral Health reserves the right to evaluate the academic validity of the degree-granting institution.

Nice To Haves

  • The equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience requirements, but not for the mandated licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general and direct supervision of nursing staff, ensuring consistent adherence to standards of care.
  • Conduct regular rounds in residential units and review nursing care plan documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Review & follow up on Incident Reports, Codes, Medication Error Reports, Falls, and reports related to Mechanical Support Devices or Seclusion/Restraint.
  • Prepare and deliver clear written & verbal reports to Nurse Executives regarding clinical operations, staffing, and patient care issues.
  • Serve as Administrative Officer of the Day (AOD) for entire facility during after-hours shifts as needed, providing leadership and operational support.
