About The Position

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) practices medicine, including conducting examinations and writing prescriptions. Within a physician–APRN collaborative agreement, the APRN exercises autonomy in medical decision-making and provides a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services without a supervision requirement. The APRN may practice in urgent care and other specialty areas, including occupational medicine, surgery, family/internal medicine, and specialty care.

Requirements

• BSN required.
• MSN required.
• Successful completion of advanced practitioner training and certification as a practitioner from an approved nurse practitioner program.
• Eligible at all times to be insured for professional liability.
• Active RN license in Kentucky or a compact state.
• Current unrestricted license to practice as an APRN in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
• Board certification required.
• BLS Certification.

Responsibilities

• Conduct examinations.
• Write prescriptions.
• Exercise autonomy in medical decision-making within a physician–APRN collaborative agreement.
• Provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services without a supervision requirement.
• Practice in urgent care and potentially other specialty areas, including occupational medicine, surgery, and family/internal medicine.
