Nurse Practitioner - Western Region Float - Days - $7K Bonus

About The Position
The Nurse Practitioner (NP), under the supervision of the Site Medical Director and other site Physicians, provides a comprehensive range of medical services to incarcerated patients in accordance with established policies and state guidelines. The NP ensures necessary documentation is provided to the Site Medical Director or designee to monitor clinical services, communicates scheduling changes to the Medical Director and H.S.A., and arranges coverage when unavailable for an extended period.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Advanced degree from an approved and accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Maintain current Nurse Practitioner licensure in the state of employment.
- Maintain current CPR certification.
- Have the patience and tact to work with the inmate patient population and the ability to work effectively in a corrections environment.
- Scheduling flexibility to rotate hours and shifts if needed, and to be called during emergencies to provide coverage.
- Position is available only to candidates residing in the United States.
Nice To Haves
- Prior medical/surgical and/or emergency/trauma experience.
- Corrections experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide medical care to inmates, including conducting exams, chronic care clinics, and infirmary rounds.
- Maintain accurate, legible progress-note documentation in SOAP format and adhere to formulary guidelines.
- Respond to emergencies and make logical decisions regarding non-formulary drugs or off-site referrals.
- Support established policies and procedures for admission, transfer, and specialty consultant referrals.
- Maintain confidentiality and provide input into facility committees as requested.
- Communicate scheduling changes to the Medical Director and H.S.A., and arrange coverage when unavailable for an extended period.
