About The Position

St. Michael Medical Center is seeking an experienced APP Cardiothoracic Nurse Practitioner for a locum position. This role involves coverage for general cardiothoracic surgery, including open procedures, coronary artery bypass surgery on pump, and valvular repair/replacement. The position is primarily hospital-based (95%) with a small percentage in the office/clinic (5%). The assignment is for 6-9 months, with a schedule of Monday-Friday and on-call duties (1-2 weekdays and weekends). Night call runs from 5 pm to 7 am. The facility uses EPIC as its EMR system. Patients per day in the hospital range from 5-10, with 0-3 admissions, 2-7 in the ICU, and 1-2 surgeries. The practice is supported by RN Navigators, 2 Physicians, and 4 Midlevels. This coverage is needed due to the retirement of the current APP. Travel preferences include lodging at Oxford Inn & Suites and highly preferring local candidates with no flights.

Requirements

• Certified NP – Required
• Cardiothoracic Surgery experience
• Experience in the OR
• Experience managing patients in the acute care and ICU setting
• Ability to assist in the OR, round, and provide clinic support
• Experience with EPIC EMR system
• WA license – Highly preferred (will consider a provider obtaining license during credentialing)
• Clean Malpractice/Background - Highly preferred
• Local, No flights - Highly preferred
• A Self-Query NPDB report is mandatory at the time of presentation. The Self-Query NPDB report must be dated within 30 days of the presentation date. - REQUIRED

Responsibilities

• Provide coverage for APP Cardiothoracic services.
• Perform general CV/thoracic surgery – open.
• Assist with coronary artery bypass surgery – on pump.
• Perform valvular repair and replacement.
• Manage patients in the acute care and ICU setting.
• Assist in the OR and potentially round or provide clinic support.
• Evaluate and manage acute volume/BP issues.
• Insert central lines.
• Participate in weekday and weekend call rotations.
• Respond to night call duties.
