Locum - Nurse Practitioner - Surgery - Cardiothoracic
About The Position
This is a locum tenens position for a Nurse Practitioner specializing in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery. The role involves providing comprehensive care to adult and geriatric patients in a hospital setting, with a focus on inpatient care. Responsibilities include post-operative care, emergency surgery, consultations, surgical assistance, and managing diagnostic tests. The position offers potential for supervisory and teaching roles and requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in Cardiothoracic and Vascular surgery services. The role requires a Board Certification in Vascular Surgery, an active Ohio medical license, current ACLS certification, and an active DEA registration. A clean professional background with no malpractice or licensing issues is strictly enforced. The coverage is ongoing, requiring 1 to 2 weeks per month until 2027, with specific dates from September 8, 2026, to September 18, 2026.
Requirements
- Board Certification in Vascular Surgery
- Active Ohio medical license (must be current, no pending applications)
- Current ACLS certification
- Active DEA registration
- Clean professional background, including no malpractice or licensing issues
- Minimum of 5 years in Cardiothoracic and Vascular surgery services

Responsibilities
- Provide post-operative care for cardiothoracic and vascular surgical patients.
- Perform emergency surgery on cardiothoracic and vascular cases.
- Conduct consultations and referrals from the Emergency Department, Cath Lab, and other hospital providers.
- Perform vein harvesting during cardiac surgery.
- Provide surgical assistance.
- Write prescriptions.
- Manage care coordination.
- Conduct patient rounding.
- Interpret diagnostic tests.
- Order and manage diagnostic tests.
- Retrieve vascular tissues for bypass conduits.
- Provide 24-hour onsite support and availability for floor or OR call on weekends.
- Provide floor call/beeper coverage from 3 PM to 7 AM on weekdays.
