About The Position

This is a locum tenens position for a Cardiothoracic Surgeon in a hospital-based setting. The role involves providing adult cardiac and general thoracic surgical procedures, managing high-risk ICU cases, and supporting structural heart procedures. The position requires 24-hour shifts and a commitment of 4-7 shifts per month. Candidates with availability between 12/24 - 1/4 will be prioritized.

• Board Certification: Required
• BLS Certification: Required
• Clean Background Check: Required
• Impella Support Experience (Insertion/removal/bailout): Required
• Experience with Structural Heart Support (in Hybrid OR/Cath Lab): Required

Nice To Haves

• Kentucky Medical License: Preferred (candidates requiring licensure will be considered)

Responsibilities

• Perform Adult Cardiac Surgery, including CABG (with arterial revascularization and redo cases), Heart Valve Repair/Replacement.
• Conduct General Thoracic Surgical Procedures such as tube thoracostomy, tracheostomy, bronchoscopy, VATS decortication/lung biopsy, and pericardial window.
• Manage ICU care for high-risk cases, including Impella insertion/removal/bailout and medical management of critically ill patients.
• Provide support for Structural Heart Procedures in the hybrid OR/catheterization lab.
