About The Position

GlyCare is hiring a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for its Hospital Medicine Specialty Team, providing inpatient diabetes and glycemic management at University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Providers deliver consultative care to adult hospitalized patients on Med-Surg and Step-Down units within a structured, evidence-based, collaborative model. The role involves coordinating with hospitalists, nursing teams, pharmacy, dietitians, and endocrinology support teams to improve glycemic outcomes and reduce complications.

The position offers daytime hospital-based rounding, predictable block-style scheduling, approximately 16 shifts per month, and minimal after-hours phone-only call. The schedule may be Monday through Wednesday plus every other weekend, or Wednesday through Friday plus every other weekend, depending on hiring needs. The role does not include ICU management, procedures, admissions or discharges, or controlled-substance prescribing. Structured onboarding, specialty training, mentorship, and ongoing professional development are provided. Compensation is $135,000–$155,000 annually, with uncapped monthly RVU-based bonuses.

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted Maryland Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license.
• NP certification as FNP, AGNP, or ACNP, or PA-C certification.
• EMR proficiency.
• Recent inpatient experience.
• Minimum one-year commitment.

Nice To Haves

• Strong new graduates with inpatient clinical training are encouraged to apply.
• Prior inpatient hospitalist experience, outpatient diabetes management experience, or diabetes-focused clinical rotations may qualify candidates for the sign-on bonus.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient diabetes and glycemic management consultations.
• Manage adult hospitalized patients on Med-Surg and Step-Down units.
• Adjust insulin and diabetes therapies using evidence-based protocols.
• Collaborate with hospitalists, nursing, pharmacy, and acute care teams.
• Document directly within the hospital EMR.
• Practice within a collaborative inpatient consultative model.
