As the Nurse Manager of the Operating Room (OR) at Weston, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing 19 operating rooms. Surgical specialties performed in the OR include Transplant, Robotics, Ortho, General, GYN, GU, ENT, Plastics and Pain. As Nurse Manager, you are responsible for ensuring the best possible patient care in your department. You will oversee daily operations, drive improvement initiatives, assure regulatory readiness, support shared governance and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team. Your dedication and tireless efforts will make a difference in the lives of patients, families and visitors each day. Caregivers in this role are salaried/exempt and work primarily days Monday-Friday. At times, this position requires flexibility in accordance with the needs of the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or through American Red Cross within first year of hire
  • Three years of recent clinical nursing experience including at least one year of healthcare management experience
  • High degree of clinical expertise in the specialty area
  • Demonstrated leadership, management, communication, counseling, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution and group process skills

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of Operating Room manager experience, including high-acuity, complex services lines
  • Master's Degree in nursing, business administration or healthcare-related field

Responsibilities

  • Manage the operation and practice of professional nursing and delivery of nursing care on an assigned unit.
  • Establish clinical direction of nursing care, provide clinical supervision and maintain quality outcomes and patient care standards.
  • Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care.
  • Develop quality initiatives and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit.
  • Supervise caregivers and promote development.
  • Maintain adherence to JCAHO and other regulatory standards.
  • Develop and monitor budgets, approve purchases and establish/revise inventory quotes.
  • Analyze personnel structure and determine staffing needs.
  • Evaluate performance, conduct selection and termination processes and develop strategic plans.
  • Participate in clinical nursing research and support foundation research activities.
