About The Position

The Registered Nurse-OR works in Baptist Health Lexington’s Surgical Services Department, which includes the Pre-Op Department, 20 operating rooms and scheduling business office, a Postoperative Care Unit, an Endoscopy Department with dedicated pre- and post-op areas, and a Sterile Processing Department. Operating Room Nurses care for and support patients before, during, and after surgery. Clinical decision-making incorporates all four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking, and creativity. The role requires supervising and delegating appropriate work to Patient Care Techs, Licensed Practical Nurses, Unit Secretaries, and students. This is a full-time, first-shift position with five 8-hour shifts, located in Lexington, Kentucky. Weekend and holiday on-call coverage is assigned by rotation.

Requirements

• Current RN licensure and work permit in Kentucky.
• Bachelor’s or associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
• Applicants with an associate degree in nursing and fewer than 10 years of experience must enroll in a bachelor’s degree program within 12 months of hire and complete the degree within 5 years.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; candidates who are not already certified must obtain it within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications, and successful completion of a dysrhythmia class, as required by the department of assignment.
