Nurse Extern - Cardiac Progressive Care

About The Position
The Nurse Extern works on a 20-bed Cardiac Stepdown unit caring for patients with cardiac and complex medical needs while building skills in assessment, telemetry, and progressive nursing care. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the extern supports patient safety, comfort, and well-being by assisting the nursing team, responding to emergent situations, and helping provide high-quality, patient-centered care while advancing their nursing education. The schedule is 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. or 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.; the position is contingent.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, or current enrollment in the Henry Ford Health Early College Program with completion of two clinical rotations.
- Enrollment in an accredited school of nursing with completion of two clinical rotations, including one in Med/Surg in an acute care setting.
- Current Health Care Provider Certification.
Responsibilities
- Perform specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs under RN supervision.
- Provide input to assist the RN in planning and implementing patient care.
- Respond to emergent situations according to established procedures.
- Participate in continuing education to enhance nursing skills and knowledge.
